The address bar colouring is a good idea to help avoid phishing attacks, most of which use something like http://somebank.com.evil.cn/internetbanking/, so the highlighting of the TLD will make those kind of attacks more obvious

The phishing attacks will adapt to it so in the long run I don't see it as helpful. My bank for instance has nothing with their name in the URL for their online banking. How is highlighting the domain going to help in that case?
